Every season, not just election season. Door to door across the Ward every spring, summer, and fall. At every neighborhood association meeting. Email updates on council votes—monthly coffee with seniors. Smoke detectors and 200 fire extinguishers handed out with the Flint Fire Department and the American Red Cross.

Keep fixing our streets and sidewalks
Candice pushed for the biggest road paving schedule in Flint's history, including neighborhood streets that went more than 30 years without new pavement. Next term, she'll keep that investment coming.

Stop violence before it starts
"By the time the police are called, the crime is already in progress or has happened. And so I think we need to get to prevention." Candice is pushing to send more public safety dollars to the community groups doing prevention work on Flint's streets.

Protect our water and your wallet
Council has pledged not to vote to raise water rates. "I stand firm on that," Candice says. She also led the pause on data centers while the City writes rules to protect our water.
She's been a key partner in securing funding for the new Flint Central High School and the demolition of the former Stewart School. She's a champion for Flint."

MEET CANDICE
A daughter of the 7th Ward
Candice Mushatt is a lifelong Flint resident. Council appointed her to the 7th Ward seat in July 2023, and four months later her colleagues elected her Vice President. In 2024, 7th Ward voters elected her to finish the term. In February 2026, council elected her President.
Why fire safety is personal
After Candice lost family members in a house fire, she turned that loss into action. She volunteers with the American Red Cross and works with the Flint Fire Department to install free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors in Flint homes, and they've handed out 200 fire extinguishers. "The goal is to save lives and keep families together."
Off council, she runs the Flint Community Lab, the first community-built, community-run certified water lab in the country. People ages 15-24 to analyze water, preparing them for careers in waste, water, and STEM fields.
During the water crisis, she was a legislative aide in the Michigan House, helping advance faster lead-notification rules and secure funding to replace Flint's lead pipes. Many neighbors also know her voice from more than ten years on WFLT 1420 AM.
